“Gifts of Being a Missionary Companion” is the theme of the first Mission Thursday of the fall, on Sept. 17 online at 2pm Eastern.
Come and hear the experiences of Episcopalians who have served as companions in mission in other parts of the world through the Episcopal Volunteers in Mission Program, the Young Adult Service Corps, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, and other missionary programs of the church.
And if you yourself served in one of these capacities, or as an appointed missionary, come and share how your experience affected your life and ministry. Give GEMN a heads-up that you’d like to present – write to gemn@gemn.org.
The Rev. Canon Ranjit Mathews, canon to the ordinary in the Diocese of Connecticut and the church’s clergy representative to the Anglican Consultative Council, will share from his YASC experience in South Africa and later service in Tanzania. The Rev. Canon Walter Brownridge will share from his service as an appointed missionary in South Africa and his current service in the Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf. Others will be on hand as well.
This one-hour webinar at 2pm Eastern on Sept. 17 is free and open to the public. Register here to attend.
GEMN’s Mission Thursdays foster conversation about mission issues, particular challenges, and how God’s mission is being pursued in diverse parts of the world. Mission Thursdays began when the Covid pandemic prompted GEMN to cancel the 2020 Missio. The online webinars were so fruitful that they are being continued into the indefinite future.
