Mission Formation Program to be offered by GEMN, May 2-3, before Mission Conference in Tampa

A wide range of education and formation avenues will be offered at the annual Mission Formation Program organized by the Global Episcopal Mission Network (GEMN) in May.  Held just before the annual Global Mission Conference, at the same location in Tampa, Florida, from midday to midday, Tuesday-Wednesday, May 2-3.

Register here for the program, along with the conference, both to be held at St. Mark’s Church in Tampa.

The program covers biblical foundations for mission, Anglican and Episcopal mission history, mission theology, companionship in mission, cultural sensitivity, a mission case study, organizing mission teams, and group dynamics for mission leadership.  Program details can be found here.

The two-year certificate program is highly recommended for diocesan and congregational mission activists, including the Global Mission Advocates newly appointed by their bishops.  Participants work on a project in the year between get-togethers and meet online in mentor groups.

Program modules will be led by a seven-member team (in order of photos above):

• Dr. Martha Alexander – Diocese of North Carolina, involved in mission in Haiti, Costa Rica, Belize and Botswana; convenes Province IV Companion Diocese Committees.

• The Rev. Jean Beniste – Diocese of Chicago, with mission experience from his native Haiti to the Dominican Republic, Florida and elsewhere in USA.

• The Rev. Jeff Bower – Diocese of Indianapolis, with mission experience in Haiti and Brazil.

• The Rev. Holly Hartman – Diocese of Massachusetts, Mission Formation Team convener; diocesan global missioner for seven years with mission experience in Haiti and elsewhere.
