Justice and Mission: Agendas for the 21st Century

The theme for the 2002 GEM Institute was Justice and Mission in a Conflicted World. There is more and more material to suggest that this century will see the joining of justice issues and the call to mission service. If the 19th century was the mission century of Africa, and the 20th century the mission century of the Global South, the 21st Century will perhaps be known as the mission century of Globalization and Urbanization.  Where before the focus of mission was overwhelmingly on this or that "part of the world", in this century our focus may well turn to worldwide phenomenon and the extend to which these contribute to or make impossible the wellbeing of people. The mission focus will concern the Good News as it struggles against the powers which consign great masses of people to permanent poverty and denies the abundance of life promised in the Gospel.

Listed here are a variety of articles and websites that are beginning to address these issues.
