Maine mission development is in a period of transition.  A group has been formed and called the Mission Development Committee.  This group was asked by the Bishop where the mission gaps were and the committee provided these five areas of endeavor.

1. Work cooperatively with Diocesan outreach committee and commissions to enhance education and opportunities for outreach including maintain the official Companion Diocese links with Haiti.

2. Provide mission education opportunities by designing a course in Missiology sponsored by the Anglican Studies program in Bangor Theological Seminary.

3. Provide a focus upon the spirituality of mission attempting to overcome the "Theological Gap" in mission during both preparation and homecoming for congregational groups.

4. Assist groups within the diocesan structure to plan for receiving returning mission volunteers.

5. Nourish the spirituality of those engaged in prolonged cross-cultural mission through an informal network serving as a sounding board for those engaged in long term appointed mission.
